All About Me

Inspired by DaShadra who was also inspired

30 Things about ME that you may not have known or may have......
1. My father and I once ate a pizza covered with ants despite trying to kill them in the microwave and tiring of attempting to pick them off.
2. My husband gave me an engagement ring that exactly matched the setting and shape of the ring that I had dreamt about him giving me (and never told him about.)
3. I am a middle child, but my younger brother has always thought he was older than me.
4. I have lived in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Texas.
5. I was once Florida's Homecoming Queen and 2nd runner up at the Florida Young Woman of the Year. Yep, you heard it, I used to frequent the pageants. For those of you who know me now, you are probably laughing hysterically. I don't even know that person anymore. I mean people, I had to put on makeup for that and wear dresses. I would like to have some of that femininity back, but not all of it. Too much and my husband wouldn't recognize me.
6. I had only three B's from my 6th grade year until my 12th grade year and two were both in English and with the same teacher (the other was in psychology). Since then, I have always felt that I am horrible at English. After reading my blog, you will probably agree.
7. I took 4 years of art in HS (2 were AP classes in which I still did not get college credit) and I can hardly draw a thing. I also took 14 years of piano lessons and my repertoire consists of 2 songs of which I can not play in their entirety.
8. My favorite food is Indian food. I used to work with several Indian men and we would have potluck parties and I would be in heaven. They would send me home with tupperware filled with all kinds of goodies.
9. I would love to live overseas for a year or two.
10. My favorite gifts from my husband are the ones he makes on his own. He has posted signs, drawn cards, written chalk messages on our sidewalk and even stayed up all night long to cut out letters in Greek which translate "I love you." He is a true romantic and very sweet to me.
11. I used to have recurring nightmares about alligators and yet I attended UF and lived on campus right next to a lake filled with gators. I often saw them when I would run and even saw one on my way to class at an intersection hanging out and basking in the sun. Soo sad for him, though because two cops came up and roped him and took him who knows where.
12. Both my husband and I have lost our fathers and so my son will never know his grandfathers, but our son is named after both of them.
13. I love hiking and camping but mostly when there is water that I can swim or wade in there.
14. I went skydiving once just outside of Memphis. It was so great.
15. I love getting shots. I like it when they pump up my veins and I like it when they put the needle in. Sometimes, I think that I should be a phlebotomist.
16. My first memory is of making a snowman with my Dad in Virginia. I remember wanting to give the snowman a carrot nose, but my dad didn't want to waste the carrot and wanted me to use a rock. If you recall #1, in my family, you don't waste any food at all.
17. The last time that I saw my dad, we had driven to Indiana for a family reunion. My dad gave me a pair of earrings for my birthday. I thought that I lost them once and then I found them.
18. I love making up forms and then filling them out. Why I don't work for the government as a phlebotomist, I'll never know.
19. When I turned 16, I passed my driving test with a "you passed alright" and then in the following month I was in 3 wrecks. I hit a mercedes (in a parking lot), a mailbox and a tree stump. I still really hate to drive.
20. I don't really like baked beans or cole slaw (unless it is KFC cole slaw) and so barbecue places frustrate me. They almost always ONLY offer those sides and then they taste like there is a half gallon of vinegar in them and so I just can't stand barbecue places.
21. I prefer nonfiction to fiction.
22. My favorite book as a teen was Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
23. My closest friendships tend to be with people who are "straight-shooters." I think that I tend to assume people talk bad about me behind my back if they only say nice things to me. So if they are hard on me to my face then they must be more honest. I realize that much of this thinking is based on insecurity, but also, my family is more straightforward so I think it is also more misunderstanding.
24. I hate shopping. I mean really, I hate it.
25. If I had an unlimited supply of finances, I would spend it on eating out at restaurants (all of them) and traveling all over the world.
26. I have recently been plagued with the idea that Angelina Jolie does more for poverty than I do. I am hoping that I will begin to remedy that.
27. My favorite movies are those in the The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
28. I would have had perfect attendance for the entire time in gradeschool, but in the 8th grade, I got the chicken pox and it ruined it all. The worst part about it is we had a field trip to Busch Gardens and I missed that. We even had to earn a certain number of points in order to go and I had earned the most points of everyone. I am still bummed about that to this day. Stupid chicken pox.
29. I think that Denzel Washington is by far the sexiest man in Hollywood. But my hubby is the sexiest man in the world.
30. I think I could double my IQ in a year if my husband would just let me get rid of our tv.
