Poor Duck

I don't know if any of you have noticed, but my web address for this blog is www.poorduck.blogspot.com. I thought that I could explain what poor duck referred to in case any of you out there were curious. Apparently, when I was in elementary school, I had a book of various fables (Junior Great Books - I think was the series) and I had gone in and highlighted portions of The Ugly Duckling. What I thought I was doing here is not readily apparent to me now, however I had also written margin notes, one of which was "poor duck." Well, the joke was on me in the end to discover this duck was actually a swan, but what kind of kid in elementary school highlights portions of their book of fables? Well, geekazoids like me do. I am sure that I had seen my mother do this sort of thing (she has written chapters in books and frequently edits books for people -- she is really smart) and perhaps, I wanted to be just like dear mom. Well mom, I still do (except for the picking toes thing). And also, I am proud to be a self-proclaimed nerd. I aspire to be a smart nerd, but in the meantime, I like just wanting to be smart. Though, I gotta be pretty smart to marry my sweetheart of a husband. If any of you don't know him, you should get to know him. He is great. Besides being kind and giving, well....if I do say so myself.....well he is extremely good looking. Just see my previous post.

Oh, on the poor duck thing.....if you want to see a poor duck, see www.poorduck.com. I went there by accident to go to my blog and was sooooo sad. But before I go: Are there any others self-proclaimed nerds out there? Do you love to study? Do you sometimes wish that class would not be over? Do you wish that you could do someone else's homework for them, because it is fun, but you know that it would be dishonest? Don't fight it! God made you special and he loves you very much. (Yes, that is from Veggie Tales.) And if you don't feel that you are a nerd, tell me something else special about yourself. But no fleshing out of skills!!! This is a PG blog. (J/K dashadra)

What a gift

My mother used to tell me that I would understand certain things after I had a child of my own. Well, I finally understand what she is talking about. And even more, I am crushed at what God did for us, sending his son to die on the cross. I look into little blue eyes right here and I want to protect him from every hurt and even hurt those who hurt him. It is so hard to imagine sending him to die so that someone like me could have eternal life....sending him to be brutally hurt....for the benefit of those who hurt him. Oh that I could be so merciful and compassionate as our God! He is amazing indeed!
